What is "i-mimic" ? "i-mimic" is a 3D Motion Capture suit, which is a wearable device that captures human performer motion & position to control the animation of virtual 3D character to make animated film or video game. The device capturing human motion directly in Autodesk 3D animation software in real-time & without plugins. It is in the shape of EXOSKELETON (wearable suit with solid parts measuring joints angles) So the use of i-mimic 3D Motion Capture suit makes the process of animating 3D characters EASY & FAST .
The problem that "i-mimic" can solve ? The traditional MOCAP suits works by recording the human animation with a special software that comes with the suit and needs to learn this new software or add a "suit operator" to the team after recording session these software (came with suits) produces MOCAP files that can be imported in the 3D animation software to be loaded to the 3D character to animate in different time of motion recording session.
NEW FEATURES in the project :
- i-mimic works DIRECTLY with 3D software (3Ds MAX, Maya, etc.) without plugins or intermediary software
- i-mimic works in REAL-TIME (not post production) i.e the 3D designer can see virtual 3D creature motions in 3D software at the same time as the 3D MOCAP performer moves... i.e the virtual 3D character will (mimic) the MOCAP suit motion instantly
- Easy to operate. Any 3D designer can operate the "i-mimic" 3D MOCAP suit and no need to add a specialist operator to the production team
- Simple & Short workflow. The suit is designed depending wuith capturing features in 3D software and from the view of 3D designer.
