Inflatables for Action - immersive art as a tool for political protest

re:publica 2016

Short thesis:

Civil disobedience with inflatable cobblestones? That's the tactics of the collective "Tools for Action". This talk will address their artistic practice of linking action, politics, and arts and reconnecting them with life.

Description:

Tools for Action” is an art and design collective developing inflatable "tools" for civil disobedience since 2012. At re:publica, Artúr will first share theory and history behind this inflatable medium with us: Why are inflatable objects a good "tool" for political actions? How do I built an inflatable from simple and cheap materials? How do I stimulate citizens to participate?

This lecture is linked to the barricades training.

During the lunch break, there will be an action training with inflatable barricades. This new blocking technique has been developed for the protests at the climate summate in Paris (2015) and is now developed further, for example in Dortmund, to prevent a big neo-Nazi march rally on the 4thof June, 2016. Both the sessions also form a call to participate in our crowdfunding campaign for June 4: Become the sponsor of one inflatable mirror barricade!
