Where are the female founders?

Short thesis:
Be it on a national, European or international level, start-up founders are mostly male. In Germany for example, only 15% of all new technology related businesses are founded by women.
What are the reasons for that? Are men just better entrepreneurs? Or do we need a gender quota for start-ups?
Description:
I will show an overview of the available statistics of start-up founders and compare different countries.
Based on my phd thesis on women in leadership positions, I will then try to introduce different plausible explanations why there are so few female founders. Let's use the discussion to hear your experiences and most importantly, exchange ideas on how to change the status quo!
