Dr. Kate Stone has a degree in Electronics and a PhD in Physics from Cambridge University. She founded the Novalia lab to explore the space where traditional print and conventional electronics converge.

Her focus is not on imagining how our everyday lives could look, but rather on infusing our current analogue world with electronics to give them the same looks but new possibilities for interaction. Think of a world where a teenager’s bedroom poster comes to life with the launch of a new album, or an LP that enables you to DJ from the actual record sleeve itself, or a notebook that actually plays musical notes.

Using her printed conductive inks, Dr. Stone is adding interactivity, internet connectivity and capacitive touch to everything from hats and mandalas to packaging and books.
