Philipp Steffens ist seit März 2014 Bereichsleiter Fiction bei RTL Television und verantwortet u.a. Produktionen wie „Starfighter“, „Der Lehrer“, „Duell der Brüder“ und die 2016 mit dem Grimme-Preis ausgezeichnete Serie „Deutschland 83“. Steffens, Absolvent der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, gründete noch im Abschlussjahr 2006 zusammen mit einigen Kommilitonen seine erste eigene Produktionsfirma (greenskyFILMS), mit der er auch die internationale Koproduktion „8“ mit namhaften Regisseuren wie Gus Van Sant, Jane Campion, Wim Wenders u.v.m. produzierte. Der Film gewann 2009 den „Cinema for Peace Award“ und lief weltweit auf Festivals. Es folgte die Erfolgsserie „Der letzte Bulle“, die sowohl 2011 den Bayerischen Fernsehpreis und 2012 den Deutschen Fernsehpreis gewann, als auch erfolgreich in Frankreich, Russland und Japan adaptiert wurde. Daraufhin gründete Steffens eine weitere Firma (Twenty Four 9 Films) und produzierte internationale Kino-Koproduktionen sowie Serien – darunter die TNT-Produktion „Weinberg“, wofür ihm 2016 der Grimme-Preis verliehen wird.

Philipp Steffens has been head of RTL Television’s fiction department since March 2014. In this capacity, he has overseen productions such as “Starfighter”, “Der Lehrer”, “Duell der Brüder”, and the “Deutschland 83” series, which received a Grimme Award in 2016. A graduate of the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, Steffens founded his first production company (greenskyFILMS) with several classmates in 2006, his graduation year. There, he produced the international co-production “8” featuring well-known directors including Gus Van Sant, Jane Campion, and Wim Wenders, among others. In 2009, the film won the Cinema for Peace Award, and played at festivals worldwide. He followed this with the successful “Der letzte Bulle” (The Last Cop) series, which won a Bavarian TV Award in 2011 and a German Television Award in 2012, and was successfully adapted in France, Russia, and Japan. Steffens subsequently founded a new firm (Twenty Four 9 Films), where he produced international feature-film co-productions as well as series, including the TNT production “Weinberg”, for which he received a Grimme Award in 2016.
