Kersti Ruth Wissenbach
Kersti is an independent consultant and researcher in the field of transparency and accountability, open development and ITC4D. She lives in Amsterdam and works as policy and strategy advisor, campaign strategist and trainer around the globe with activist groups, NGOs and governmental organizations.
She is also a PhD candidate at the New Media Department of the University of Amsterdam where she researches transnational civic tech activism from a social movement perspective as part of the research project ‘Data Activism: The Politics of Big Data According to Civil Society (DATACTIVE).
Kersti is a convinced hybrid between disciplines as well as between practice and academia. She has been working on the role of communication in change processes and communication as right since the early 2000s, before the ICT4D and later big data hype hit. She is a ‘people over tech’ advocate.
