Julia Reda was elected to the European Parliament to represent the Pirate Party in 2014. She is a Vice-Chair of her parliamentary group, the Greens/European Free Alliance. Her legislative focus is on copyright and access to knowledge. She sits on the Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) of the European Parliament and co-founded the Digital Agenda intergroup of MEPs working on digital policy issues. In 2014, she was responsible for the Parliament's evaluation of 2001's Copyright Directive ahead of the forthcoming reform.
