As one of the two founders of the initiative, he currently works on various projects which apply digital documentation and mapping methods to archaeology and heritage in Germany, Belize, Mexico, Honduras and Peru. While completing his PhD at the University of Stuttgart in Germany, his involvement on a project funded by the European Union connected him with Matthew, who together started Rekrei (formally Project Mosul) after witnessing the violent destruction of archaeological remains in northern Iraq.
